‘Dream’ is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream which explores the duality of a rigid, oppressive state vs the liberated, truthful forest. A design which elevated the distinct two worlds of Athens and The Forest. We wanted to create a space that could ‘reveal’ the forest, a symbol of truth and freedom, we wanted to take the audience on a journey into an immersive space – to stand amongst the trees. Much like the characters’ journeys, the audience are moved from the traditional audience role in Athens down into a standing show within the forest.
Drawn to the freedom of the nightclub, the forest took inspiration from the ruleless state of the night which contrasted with the familar parliamentary state of Athens.

We wanted to create a space which captured the essence of storyteling in an initmate immersive space. A design which puts audience at the forefront of the storyteling, asking them to adopt props and be within action. With a reflective ceiling piece to help find new ways of viewing the action, and a carpeted floor, the space is one with poetry at its heart.

A Conceptual Site Specific Design for Lavernock Battery, Lavernock.
Set & Costume Design: Jasmine AraujoDirector: Bridget KeehanWriters: Lyneter Roberts & Dunya Mikhail adapted by Bridget KeehanComposer: Bethany Lewis
A site specific piece which explored the motifs of war in order to express the ‘banality of evil’ contained within its rituals. A piece with poetry at the forefront. Working with a composer we created a piece which used sound as an integral part of the performance, helping audience navigate the site but also speaking to the unsaid of the poetry.

A performance which expressed the fragmentation, distortion and joy at the heart of Beatriz’ work. A piece which forced audience on a journey to be curious and pay attention.
To create the world of molluscs I used a range of slimy materials such as worbla, silicone caulk, latex and fabric to achieve these puppets.

Proficent use in AUTOCAD and Sketchup. Mainly using AUTOCAD for model making but also as a tool when propmaking and designing. I use Sketchup on the early stages of designing to help visualise the space before going into Photoshop.

Workshops run at the Oasis Centre, Cardiff with Millie Lamkin.
In collaboration with Oasis, a place which aims to help integrate refugees and asylum seekers into Wales and the local community, we ran a workshop that centred round creating a map of Cardiff. We focused on teaching sewing skills and screen-printing so the people who came could take away a tote bag with a design they had made on it.
The map was a culmination of drawings, sewing, words, stories and memories achieved over the weeks. With each piece of the map a story and person were directly tied to it.

Making work for me is about expressing something with truth and joy. I am happy when my hands are busy and I’m making, but also enjoy working across research, design, sound, movement, and puppetry to create multi-disciplinary, fun experiences for the audience. I am a collaborator and take great pleasure in being able to have a laugh while making work that is celebratory at its core.
I take ecological thinking seriously and believe our work should strive to engage with communities in active, helpful ways.
